MMA Conditioning

MMA Conditioning is vital part of
any MMA Fighters or indeed any martial artists training regime.
If you run out of gas in a fight, it does not matter how slick
and well practiced in MMA you are, you are going to have a bad
day. As you know in MMA bad days can hurt
alot
How do we prevent that from
happening? Through a well designed MMA conditioning lot.
program.
A MMA Conditioning program must
develop the fighters…

A Common mistake that a lot of
MMA fighters make is to follow a traditional Body Building
style weights regime. Along with long, slow steady state cardio
workouts.
Body Building Programmes are
designed to increase an athlete’s SIZE. With MMA being
contested in Weight divisions it is vitally important that you
gain as much POWER and STRENGTH with as little weight gain as
possible this is often called an athlete’s power to weight
ratio. In Basic terms when designing a MMA Conditioning
Programme every pound of muscle must give the athlete as much
“Bang for his Buck” as possible.

Cardio MMA Conditioning must
mirror the actual fight situation as closely as possible.
Fights are not fought at a constant steady pace. Fights are
fought in highly intense rounds with slight breaks. So when
designing an athlete’s cardio programme this needs to be taken
into account. A mixture of high intensity intervals will better
prepare the athlete for the
Fight.

Image the look on your opponents
face as he stares across the ring, desperately gasping for
breath to fill his shattered body, all of his muscles feeling
like lead weights at you. You are jumping around if it was the
first round of the fight with a knowing slightly sinister
smile. His face will be a picture of
FEAR.
